1 killed, 2 seriously injured in Wisconsin car accident

This time of year is often a special one for many families in Wisconsin and across the country. Many will spend a great deal of time following old traditions and creating new ones as they celebrate the holidays. Unfortunately, one family is now left planning a funeral after a fatal car accident took the life of a 14-year-old girl.

The incident reportedly happened just before 7:30 p.m. on a day in mid-December.  According to reports, the 14-year-old victim was riding in the back seat of a car driven by an 18-year-old. Reports indicate that a 17-year-old was also riding in the vehicle.

Unfortunately, police believe that the driver lost control of the vehicle. As a result, it is said to have entered a ditch before striking two trees. The young girl was reportedly discovered pinned in the back seat of the vehicle, and she died at the scene. The driver and the other passenger were ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. Police believe that speed was a factor in the accident.

The worst nightmare of all Wisconsin parents is the death of a child; knowing that their loss was likely preventable often makes it that much more difficult. Now, instead of planning Christmas outings with family members, the family of the deceased young girl is now planning a funeral. Often, the funeral costs and lost wages associated with a fatal car accident can quickly become overwhelming for grieving families. When the loss is a result of another person’s negligence, surviving family members may choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit. If successfully presented, they could receive a monetary award that will help them cope with the expenses associated with their loss.
