Wisconsin driver faces multiple charges after car accident

It is easy to overlook the importance of certain traffic features that drivers come across every time they drive. For example, traffic lights may seem commonplace, but they play an extremely important role in keeping motorists safe. In fact, officials in Wisconsin claim that a recent car accident that sent several people to the hospital was caused by a man who failed to stop at a red light.

The incident happened just before 5 p.m. on a day in late June. According to reports, a 28-year-old man was under the influence of alcohol and speeding at the time of a collision. Reports indicate that the man drove through a traffic light, striking four vehicles.

One of the struck vehicle sustained significant damage, and its driver was transported by helicopter, though he is expected to survive. The driver who police claim caused the accident was also injured. Three other people were transported to the hospital due to cuts from glass.

The driver believed to have run through a red light now faces multiple charges, including operating while intoxicated, operating without a valid license and causing injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle. Unfortunately, the victims of the car accident — especially the man transported by helicopter —  may face a long path to recovery. In the meantime, they may be worried about the financial toll that medical bills and lost wages will have on their overall financial health. As a result, victims of car accidents in Wisconsin often choose to file a personal injury lawsuit against the parties deemed responsible.
