A driver likely makes hundreds of decisions while navigating Wisconsin roadways. Many of these decisions are relatively unimportant, but others may have life-or-death consequences for both the individual and those he or she may encounter. In fact, police believe that a driver’s failure to yield the right-of-way resulted in a fatal accident.
The accident happened during the afternoon hours of a day in late October. According to reports, a 16-year-old male driver failed to yield, resulting in a collision with a sports utility vehicle driven by a 33-year-old woman. The driver of the SUV reportedly lost control due to the collision, causing it to enter opposing traffic and collide with a tractor-trailer.
The SUV driver was transported from the scene by helicopter but ultimately died from the injuries suffered. Her identity was not released in the immediate aftermath of the crash. The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries while the teenage driver and his passenger were uninjured. The accident remains under investigation.
The death of a loved one is never easy. However, surviving family members are often left to cope with not only the emotional implications of their loss, but many are also left in a precarious financial situation as a result of lost wages, funeral expenses and medical costs. To help cope with these costs, many people in Wisconsin who face such a loss due to another’s negligence choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit. A successfully presented lawsuit could result in a financial award that could help with many of these expenses. An attorney with experience with such cases can help these families understand their legal options.
