There are few things more nerve-wracking than the prospect of being accused of a crime. While the criminal justice system can be overwhelming to an adult, it can be especially so for a juvenile. Unfortunately, a teen in Wisconsin is now likely wondering about the decisions he must make now that he faces criminal charges.
The incident that led to the 15-year-old male’s arrest are said to have happened one afternoon on a day in late July. According to reports, the teen entered a garage and took an electric bicycle. Reports indicate that the owner was nearby and yelled for the teen to stop, but he continued.
The alleged victim claims to have been able to get a good description of the teen because of her proximity to him. A police officer reportedly spotted him driving down the street afterward, and he took the teenager into custody. According to reports, the teen is “tentatively” charged with burglary.
Most people would admit that the criminal justice system is complicated, even those professionals who have a great deal of experience with it. Many people facing criminal charges in Wisconsin and across the country feel unprepared to make the decisions that will impact the rest of their lives. As such, they often want an experienced professional on their side, providing them the necessary information to make informed decisions, including whether to fight the charges they are facing in court or accept a plea deal, if offered, that could potentially result in a reduced charge or sentence.
